Hey Innisians! My name is Daniel and I’m going to be your IRC President for the year! I’ll be in my 3rd year, with a specialist in Health & Disease and a minor in Immunology. Ever want to geek out on science? I’m your guy. Not that into science? I love talking about anything with anyone, so hit me up if you ever want to hang out or chat! I have a slight obsession with plants, food, games, and just about everything else that you can think of. Literally. You name it and I’ll probably find it interesting.
I’m here to make sure the IRC is doing its best to foster community and to make sure every residents’ decision to live at Innis Residence was the best decision they ever made in university. I spent a lot of my life in small towns, so I totally understand if you’re feeling overwhelmed – I was in the same situation in my first year. Don’t ever be afraid to reach out to me. I promise I don’t bite! Welcome to Innis Residence!
Hey Innis! My name’s Andrew Zhao and I’m hyped to be your Innis Residence Council VP. I’m currently a third-year Political Science specialist, with minors in Philosophy and Mathematics. I’m also a big hockey fan (go Flames!) and I listen to all kinds of music (indie, musicals, hip hop, classical, the whole shebang). Point being, if you want to talk about anything from hockey to Tchaikovsky to democratic peace theory, I’m your guy! I really truly believe that the IRC has the potential to make the residence a fun place to call home. Whether you’re in your first year or your fifth year, our goal is to make sure you enjoy your time in the residence to its fullest. That means that I (along with the rest of the Council) are always happy to talk about how we can make your residence experience even better.
Feel free to say hi if you see me around the building! Don’t be shy, let’s be friends—I can always use a few new pals!
Hey Innis! My name is Katharina, Kat for short, and I will be the IRC Treasurer this year! I am a second year international student specialising in Architectural Studies and hoping to minor in Environmental Studies. I grew up in Switzerland and England, but I’m actually half Belgian half Dutch! This means I speak several languages, which I’m always looking to practice with anyone who speaks them, and bring back “strange” European foods – beware the dutch liquorice.
I am often found in the events room “studying”, so if you want to discuss something, or simply contribute to my terrible procrastination, I’m always happy to share cool travel stories, chat about settling into a new country and culture or anything else you fancy!
Hey Innis! My name’s Paxton and I’ll be your IRC Secretary this year! I’m in my 3rd year, double majoring in Genetics + Cell and Systems Biology and minoring in Immunology.
I was born and raised in Calgary, so moving from the open prairies to bustling city life in Toronto has been a big change for me. I love being outdoors, be it camping, backpacking or cycling, I’m always down for a new challenge. On the indoor side of things, you’ll find me watching hockey (go Flames!), procrastinating real work by watching YouTube, or even playing piano when I have free time (so basically never).
When I first started at U of T, I really thought I would graduate with no friends, but once I got involved in the Innis community, it really became my home away from home. If you see me in and around Innis, come say hi!
Hey Innis! My name is Josie and I’ll be your Innis Residence Council Social Convener this year! As Social Convener, I will be responsible for planning and overseeing all major events held around residence this year, such as Semi-Formal and House Olympics. I am currently in my second year with a Philosophy specialist and double-minor in Bioethics & Writing and Rhetoric.
Outside of school work, I love to read poetry, watch vines and curate impeccable Spotify playlists, so feel free to join me anytime! I am so excited to meet all of you and have an amazing year! I have met some extraordinary people in residence and made amazing friends, and hope you all get the opportunity to do so too!
Feel free to contact me with any event suggestions, concerns or questions!
Senior House Reps are upper-year students who are responsible for building House spirit and encouraging involvement in the residence. They organize the monthly House Olympics, are responsible for all suite events in their respective houses, and mentor their respective Junior House Reps. Senior House Reps are chosen through an application process each spring, so more information will be given out closer to the date.
Hi, Innis folk (Megan™)! As hard as it is to believe, my name is not SuperCoolRadPerson101–no. It’s Becky.
I am a second-year student double-majoring in Computer Science and Psychology, and I come from the humble streets of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. I’m the IT Assistant for Innis Colllege Residence and am also a member of the Innis Environmental Committee and Innis College Choir. In my spare time, I enjoy baking cakes and napping to the sweet tunes of everyone’s most beloved album, “Shrek (Music From The Original Motion Picture).” In high school, I voted for and graduated to “All Star” by Smash Mouth. It was great. 😀
I look forward to meeting all of you in the fall! Until then, my fellow SuperCoolRad101 people.
Hey Innis! My name is Gabriel and I will be the Senior House Rep for Devo this year! I’m currently in second year doing a double major in Nutrition and Global Health. I was raised in Markham and enjoy the atmosphere the city has to offer. I love food, playing sports, and (binge) watching television shows. Feel free to come talk to me about anything and hope to see you around!
Hey Innis! My name is Keleila and I’ll be one of your senior house representatives for the 2018-2019 academic year! I’m in my second year doing a specialist in psychology. I want to get to know as many of you as possible so feel free to say hi if you see me around! I’m from Oakville but I spent a lot of time in Toronto, even before moving here, so if you want to know some cool places to go in the city feel free to ask. I can also recommend all the best vegan eats as I have made it my mission to try every vegan restaurant in the city. I’m so excited to meet all of you! This year is going to be great!
Hi Innis folk! I’m Megan, one of your Senior House Reps this year! I am a second year student double majoring in Philosophy, and Women and Gender Studies. I grew up on the west end (best end!) of Toronto so please feel free to ask me questions about this bustling city. Here are some other rapid fire fun facts about me: (1) I am undefeated in Crazy 8’s and have been for the past five years (yes – that is a challenge); (2) I strongly believe that “You Belong With Me” is a lyrical and narrative masterpiece; and (3) dogs are my favourite animal (cliché, I know). Outside of the IRC, I am also one of the Equity and Outreach Directors with the Innis College Student Society. I am so excited to meet all of you, and I cannot wait for all that this year will bring <3
Hey Innis! My name is Claire and I’ll be the Senior House Representative for Ajax this year! I am currently in second year doing a double major in Economics and Statistics. I was raised in Markham so coming to live in Toronto was a great change of pace. My interests include music, soccer, and playing the piano (I’m a little rusty though). If you ever need someone to talk to, you can probably find me in one of the Innis study rooms or the Fishbowl! WELCOME TO INNIS!!!
Hey Innis, what’s up? I’m Evelyn and I will be one of your senior house reps this year! Right now I’m in my fourth year, majoring in psychology with minors in biology and creative writing. Originally I’m from Vancouver, British Columbia (west coast best coast yo) and always miss the mountains + forests when I’m in Toronto. However, the lovely people at Innis have made up for this fact. I enjoy reading (especially sci fi), writing, drawing, winter weather, and learning more about the world! You can usually catch me studying at one of our many libraries or volunteering at Caffiends, a student run coffee shop here on campus. I look forward to meeting you all (and making you laugh) and remember, we’re all on this university journey together 🙂
Junior House Reps are first-year students who work together with their respective Senior House Reps to build House spirit and encourage involvement in the Residence. They organize House Olympics and other events. Junior House Reps participate in the bi-weekly IRC meetings, so it is a great opportunity to see what all of the positions really do, and where they want to get involved in the future. Junior House Reps are chosen through an application process in October, so be prepared!
The Environmental Committee strives to promote environmental stewardship and encourage environmentally sustainable behaviour. We will accomplish this through a variety of active and passive education campaigns, as well as by running events. We hope to educate each resident on various techniques that can be used to reduce their environmental footprint.
Hey Innis! I’m Adrian and I am one of this year’s Environmental Committee Co-Chairs. I am currently in my second year in Civil Engineering (CIV2T1). I’m always open to chat about politics, cities, history or just about anything! Come by my suite to chat or just send me a message. I’m always open to a good discussion.
The Game and Media Entertainment (GAME) Committee hosts a variety of entertainment events throughout the academic year, such as video game tournaments, Saturday morning cartoons, movie nights and much more!
Hey Innis! My name is Paul and I’ll be one of your GAME Committee Co-Chairs this year. I am second year student pursuing an Architecture specialist and a Math major. I grew up in a small city just outside of Vancouver, so coming to Toronto was giant change but an awesome challenge. I am very excited to host various entertainment events with my fellow co-chair throughout the year, where we can build an amazing Innis community and have fun in the process! Outside of the IRC, I am the Social Director for the ICSS as well as I work at the Front Desk. You will most likely see me everywhere in Innis, so if you want to talk about anything, I am there! However, my main place in the Residence is the 4th Floor TV room, where you will see me playing Super Smash Bros or Mario Kart and most likely winning (hopefully).
If you want to be involved with the GAME Committee, applications for the co-chair as well as the junior representatives will be available at the start of the school year, so keep your eyes open! Innis is a fantastic community and I am glad to call Innis my home. I cannot wait for you to see how great Innis is!
Fit Club is an aspect of the Innis community where residents of any fitness level can come together and participate in fun physical activities. Not only are novel and creative events hosted with various mental and physical disabilities kept in mind, but It is a great way for residents to meet new people and become a part of the community that is Innis.
Hey Innis! (Everyone screams “Hey What!?!?) My name is Nana Koomson, and I am one of your fitclub co-chairs this year. I am a second year student majoring in global health, and minoring in statistics and immunology (If you want to know why, it is because I am one of the desperate students at U of T trying to get into Medical School). I come from a small town called Red Lake, which is about a 24 hour drive from Toronto (No. I didn’t drive here, I do not have the patience to do such a thing). Some fun facts about me include:
I hope you all become a part of Fit Club as it is a great way to meet new people, play cool fitness games, and integrate yourselves into the Innis community.
Ads and Publicity directors design and create posters and promotional material for all IRC events.
Hey Innis! My name is Julie and I’m a third-year student in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Microbiology. I am one of two Ads and Publicity directors for the IRC where I help to design and create promotional works such as pretty posters for upcoming events. In my spare time, I like to lounge around and catch up on television shows such as Marvel’s Agents of Shield, Grey’s Anatomy, The Flash, etc. My favourite thing about Innis is how friendly and welcoming everyone is! Feel free to come talk to me about anything (kpop, anime, television shows, etc.) and I hope you have a great year at Innis and UofT!
