The Innis Residence closes each year over the Winter Break, as most of our residents go home. While you are free to leave your belongings in your room over the break, it is important to note that no access to the building will be available during this time.
This year, the Innis Residence will be closed from 10:00am on Wednesday, DECEMBER 23rd, 2020 to 10:00am on SUNDAY, JANUARY 3rd, 2021. Residents will not be able to access the building during this period, so please ensure you take any items with you that you need during the closure (e.g. medication, passport, TCard, wallet, laptop, etc.).
If you decide to leave residence and are travelling to a destination outside of Canada, you will be required to quarantine for 14 days upon your return. Please contact CIE to obtain more information regarding re-entry to Canada. If you have used the University of Toronto full quarantine program before, there will be a cost associated with a second enrolment in this program. Please note – you cannot quarantine in your assigned residence room when you return.
To sign-up for quarantine when you return if you are travelling abroad, you must register through StarRez.
University of Toronto supported housing will be available at CampusOne. For those students who need a place to stay over the entire winter break, Winter Break Accommodation applications are now available through StarRez, under the “Manage My Housing” tab.
At CampusOne, the rooms are suite style with multiple bedrooms and washrooms. There is no in-suite kitchen facility. Those staying will be provided with an individual bedroom and assigned washroom and will likely share the suite with another student.
The deadline to submit the application is Friday, December 4 @ noon. Submitting an application DOES NOT automatically confirm you have a space. Applications will be reviewed by the residence office, and confirmations will be sent out the week of December 7.
Please note that late applications will not be accepted. If you are unsure if you need housing accommodation over the break, we encourage you to sign up now anyway. We will accept cancellations for housing accommodations at CampusOne until Friday, December 18 @ 4PM. There will be no charge for cancelling by this date.
Students staying over the Winter Break will be charged a fee of $300 for the room at CampusOne. Students will be required to move in to the CampusOne residence on Tuesday, December 22, and move back to your home residence on Sunday, January 3, 2021.
This option does not allow students to book partial stays. If you select this option, you will be opting in to the CampusOne housing for the entire winter break.
Students can also opt-in to a Winter Break meal plan for an additional subsidized rate of $300. This will provide students 3 pre-boxed meals a day, starting with dinner on December 22, until breakfast on January 3. This is opt-in only and not automatic. You can select this option on the application when you apply.
There will be Residence Dons on site to support you through your stay at CampusOne, and programming so you can engage with your community. Programming will be provided through Hart House, the Centre for International Experience (CIE), the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education, and your residence life team. More information will be sent via email in early December.
If you are staying in Winter Break Housing, please complete a UCheck self-assessment each day and if you receive a red screen, please stay in your room and report your illness to the residence life staff.
If you have questions about this Winter Break program, please email email@example.com.
