Residence is guaranteed for all new full-time students entering their first year of university in an undergraduate program for the first time, provided that they have indicated their interest in residence by completing the University of Toronto’s Housing Application, MyRes, by March 31, and have received and accepted an offer of admission by June 1.
Innis Residence houses full-time undergraduate Innis College, Arts and Science students and a very small number of Applied Science and Engineering and Faculty of Architecture students.
Approximately 75% of the spaces at Innis Residence are filled with first-year students. Due to the limited number of spaces available at the Innis Residence, applicants will be admitted on the basis of academic achievement.
Minimum grades for admission to the Innis Residence vary by admission category (e.g., A&S, Engineering, Computer Science, Commerce, etc.) and our residence acceptance decision is based on the same grades used to determine your admission to the University of Toronto.
If you require disability-related accommodations, it is important that you register and make an appointment with Accessibility Services as soon as possible.
Regardless of what faculty you are applying to you must log into MyRes and indicate you are interested in residence before March 31st. If you do not do this your chance of living in a St. George campus residence will be extremely low. You must log into MyRes with your UTORid/JOINid which you receive upon completing your application to the University of Toronto. To activate your UTORid/JOINid go HERE.
Arts and Science Students:Once you have been admitted to U of T, you must log back in to MyRes and rank your residence choices. In order to maintain the Residence Guarantee, this step must be completed within two weeks of receiving your offer, or by March 31st – whichever date is later.
Engineering and Architecture Students: You will be required to rank your residence options in order of preference immediately following confirming your interest, only Engineering and Architecture students who rank Innis as their first preference will be considered for housing at Innis. As demand for Innis Residence is very high, even if you rank Innis first and meet our minimum admit average to be considered, this does not guarantee you will be offered residence at Innis.
If you are eligible for the residence guarantee and have completed the above steps on time you will receive an offer of residence by the end of July. Innis sends rolling offers throughout the admissions process. All offers are time sensitive and you must follow all of the instructions in your offer. Offers are only sent through e-mail and are sent to the e-mail you used on your OUAC application / ACORN student profile.
Your residence offer is tied to a specific faculty of admission offer. You only receive one offer of housing per offer of admission. This means that sometimes you may receive multiple offers of housing, each related to a specific faculty of admission offer. Pay attention to the text in your housing offer e-mail as it will clearly state what faculty offer it is related to. Once you accept your offer of admission it will void any housing offers you have for other faculties. Not all residences house students from all faculties. For example, Innis houses Arts and Science, Engineering, and Architecture students but does not house Kinesiology and Phys-Ed or Music students. For more information on all of the residences be sure to check out UofT’s Central Housing website.
